“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” the new sitcom created by the legendary Tina Fey and SNL, Friends and 30 Rock writer Robert Carlock debuted on Netflix last week. Naturally I stayed up till 4am on Saturday watching the entire first season (thanks daylight savings), as one does.
I love how sunny and silly but also tough this show is. Here are (some of) my favorite moments from the first season:
1. The theme song
#theyalivedamnit #butfemalesarestrongashell
2. The Matt Lauer interview
Cyndee: I had waited on Reverend Richard a bunch of times at a York Steak House. … One night he invited me out to his car to see some baby rabbits. And I didn’t want to be rude, so… here we are.
Matt: I’m always amazed at what women will do because they’re afraid of being rude.
3. Meeting Jenna, er, Jacqueline Voorhees
“You’ll need to be here by 6 every morning to get Buckley up for school.
Then get me up at 10, but don’t wake me up.”
4. Kimmy’s violent, post-traumatic outbursts and 90s (or just insane) comebacks.
5. The random Buhbreeze commercials
6. “Crank you for being a crank.”
7. The 1938 musical: Daddy’s Boy
8. Pinot Noir, an ode to … well.
9. Kimmy’s version of a “mirror.”
“I can see myself if I move fast enough.”
10. And Tina Fey’s cameo as the world’s worst lawyer
Ever.
Loved it! Can’t wait for Season 2.
